Domestic Cleaning Jobs

While most of us shy away from housework, there is an entire billion dollar industry that has kept many employed through these tough economical times.

The cleaning industry is one that there is seldom any discrimination. It is an opportunity for every race, and nearly every age group. There are many cleaning professionals that start in a career in the cleaning industry and never leave but build their own business and find themselves years later very well established in life with a very lucrative business.

And, yes, cleaning is lucrative. The big companies normally charge £25 up per hour. Companies such as Merry Maids charge as much as £200 plus for three to four hours of cleaning. Granted, the employee is not receiving this, and Merry Maids is likely one of the most underpaid employments in domestic cleaning jobs out there, but you will receive training like no place else and have your foot in the door of nearly every company you apply for after having worked for them.

Domestic cleaning jobs are also an employment opportunity for the underprivileged. There are many who have entered the arena with no skill and just the desire to work and have earned a great place in the cleaning industry.

Domestic cleaning jobs are for people who do not mind working. The job requires elbow grease. There is an art to shining, and even vacuuming. It is the small details that will have the employee so powerful within their employment. Simple things, such as always vacuuming the plush of the carpet in the same direction, knowing how to get those impossible stains out of the sink without scrubbing for hours, and many other tricks of the trade that earn your reputability and have the homeowners requesting you clean their home. All of which you will be trained for. Should your application be accepted, expect to first go through vigorous video training on the “how to” of cleaning properly, quizzes and then to enter the workforce where you will begin your hands on experience. Cleaning is powerful work and will require strength. If you are not in good physical condition you definitely should reconsider.

There are a few things to consider when seeking a domestic cleaning job. Most do not include health insurance. This is not saying you will not find a company that does not offer health insurance; they are out there, but often times the cleaning industry do not offer these perks. Many people in these careers, however, often go on to open their own cleaning business or to work as janitors for large companies, hospitals, or the state which then become very productive. And, having held a prior domestic cleaning job will get you the recognition you need when applying to these companies.

If you need employment and are willing to work, then a domestic house cleaning job is definitely is a job to look.
